As the term implies, abdominal exercises focuses on building abdominal muscles. This is usually done in combination of other kinds of exercises. This kind of exercise is great for building abdominal muscles but is not very effective in getting rid of fat in the stomach area.
One of the most well-known kind of abdominal exercise is the crunch or also known as curl-up. There are different kinds of crunches which are as follows:
- reverse crunch
- twisting crunch
- Thai crunch
- cable crunch
- bicycle crunch
Abdominal exercise are typically performed while lying down, facing up. But today crunches can be done using several exercise equipments such as exercise balls. Using exercise balls while doing crunches or other abdominal exercise can reduce the stress on the lower back. Do not perform abdominal crunches when not using any mat or exercise ball. You can do more repetitions when using exercise ball or mat.
Performing abdominal exercises is not enough to keep the whole body fit. But if you want to have that six-pack then abdominal exercises combined with other fitness exercise will do the trick. Of course, this has been said over and over again, to eat healthy foods if you aim to stay fit.
One of the earliest fitness equipments are exercise weights. This equipment is mainly used for strength training. Exercise weights is known to have two derivations which are olympic and standard plates. All fitness gym has this equipment and today is being used not only by men but also women. The weights can either be simply dumbbells or it can be more complex like a machine where weights are attached to it through a pulley.
1. Barbell: This is mainly used by athletes and body-builders which is very effective in building muscle. During olympic games, the barbells used must conform to a standard set by officials. Olympic barbells for men and women differ from each other. Though, barbells used in a gym does not need to conform to these standards.
2. Dumbbell: This kind of exercise weight belongs to the free weight kind. This equipment can either be used in pairs or singles. These exercise weights have different kinds of dumbbells which are adjustable, fixed-weight and selectorized dumbbells.
3. Kettlebell: This kind of exercise weights is not usually seen in fitness gyms though this is used in Olympic games. This fitness equipment looks like a canon ball with a handle which originated from Russia. This mainly targets to improve endurance, strength, balance and agility.
It is not new to anyone the use of fitness treadmill for workouts. In fact, several people already have them in their homes. The treadmill is basically an equipment where you can walk or jog in place. You will be able to reduce or increase the speed of the belt movement depending if you want to walk or jog.
