As the term implies, abdominal exercises focuses on building abdominal muscles. This is usually done in combination of other kinds of exercises. This kind of exercise is great for building abdominal muscles but is not very effective in getting rid of fat in the stomach area.
One of the most well-known kind of abdominal exercise is the crunch or also known as curl-up. There are different kinds of crunches which are as follows:
- reverse crunch
- twisting crunch
- Thai crunch
- cable crunch
- bicycle crunch
Abdominal exercise are typically performed while lying down, facing up. But today crunches can be done using several exercise equipments such as exercise balls. Using exercise balls while doing crunches or other abdominal exercise can reduce the stress on the lower back. Do not perform abdominal crunches when not using any mat or exercise ball. You can do more repetitions when using exercise ball or mat.
Performing abdominal exercises is not enough to keep the whole body fit. But if you want to have that six-pack then abdominal exercises combined with other fitness exercise will do the trick. Of course, this has been said over and over again, to eat healthy foods if you aim to stay fit.
