If you have an injury that stops you from running on a harder surface, such as a sprained ankle or low back pain, water running can provide the workout you need, without further injuries. Water running is also a great recovery workout after you have completed an entire bike ride or a long run. If you do water running correctly, you can see as many advantages as running on land.

Some professionals say a flotation device such as a vest is needed when doing water workouts. This does assist in keeping the right form while working out in water. Waterproof heart monitor may also be needed and do it in a pool deep enough that your feet will not touch the floor. Remember that your heartbeat will slow down usually at 10-15 beats as compared to working out on land. This is caused by the buoyancy of water.

Most athletes perform water workouts as an important part of their workout regimen. There are two kinds of workouts that can offer great results. Steady state workout is consists of 10 minutes warm-up, then steady running timed at 5-10 minutes. Three sets of steady running and one minute of slow running in the middle.

Next is the tempo interval workout where the same warm-up exercises are done in ten intervals. Intervals are timed at a minute and 30 seconds break and easy running in between. Next set consists of five intervals which are timed at 2 minutes each having the same easy running in between. Then the last set is three intervals timed at one minute each and 30 seconds in between. After performing a routine, take ten minutes to rest.

Quick ways to stay fit this holidayEvery end of the year, the holiday comes and teases us with all those wonderful and delectable foods sprawled in the long dining table. Of course, we can't do anything but splurge ourselves and think that you will lose the the added pounds after the holidays. But this should not be the case because there are quick ways to stay fit this holiday.

If you have worked hard to lose the extra pounds and now eating a healthy and strict diet then do not waste all that effort. One way to stop yourself from craving those sugar-spice-and-everything-nice foods is to eat your meal before you go to a party. Eat your healthy food so you will stay full and will just nip on the foods that will be served to you.

Another quick ways to stay fit this holiday is to stay away from alcoholic beverages. Control! Control! Control! Beers, margaritas and other mixed alcoholic beverages are said to contain high amounts of calories. If you are really in a strict diet then you will not touch one of these. Staying fit and healthy is all about discipline, do not give into temptation just  because all the people in the room are munching on delicious foods.

If you do not control yourself then you will gain those pounds again that you worked hard for to lose. But do not take this the wrong way, do not also punish yourself. You can eat small quantities of whatever is served and remember that it is all about balance. When you eat meat then make sure that you have vegetable beside it and drink plenty of water. And instead of eating cake for dessert, munch on fruits these will satisfy you just like cakes do but in a healthy way.

These quick ways to stay fit this holiday may be hard to do but if you are committed to living a healthy life then this is so easy. If others can do it, then you can to. But do not also forget to have fun, do not concentrate too much on counting the calories on the food that you are eating while your friend is happily telling you stories.
